Wecyclers is a woman-led for profit-urban waste management company based in Lagos, Nigeria that employs an innovative approach towards environmental awareness and sustainability.
The orgaisation provides individuals and families in low-income communities a chance to capture value from their waste through a point-based recycling system, while providing a reliable supply of materials to the local recycling industry.
Community members collect recyclable materials from aorund their neighboourhoods which are then collected by WeCyclers in return for points -per kilo of collected material- which can then be redeemed as useful appliances and household items.
The company, started by Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola in 2012 and now headed by her brother Olawale Adebiyi, has generated over 200 jobs since it's inception with a focus on women who make up 60% of it’s workforce.
